Custom Cool Santa sign

Always eager to experiment with my Epilog laser, I decided to try my hand at creating a fake "Neon" sign using EV wire (electro luminescent). Naturally, I wasted some materials at first, making some hilariously dumb mistakes—like forgetting that corners are not the EL wire's best friends. Sure, it's flexible, but even it has its limits! Another classic blunder was measuring the wire's diameter (which seemed like a smart move), but completely ignoring the "kerf" or the cut width of the laser beam. This resulted in a prototype that was so loose, the wire just flopped around like a noodle and wouldn't snap into the laser-cut channels without a little glue love. Once I'd factored this, things went much better. EL wire is not particularly bright, I have to say. It's fine for night time use but it's barely visible during the day.
